Ship ballast water is fresh water or seawater loaded into the ship's ballast tank to ensure the safe and stable operation of the ship. At the end of the voyage, the ballast water is generally discharged into the destination port area. Due to this characteristic, ship ballast water has become the main carrier for the global spread of aquatic organisms and the main pathway for marine biological invasion. In order to prevent harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens that may be carried in the ballast water and sediments of international ships from causing damage to the aquatic ecological environment and human health, the member states of the International Maritime Organization jointly formulated the 2004 International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' ballast water and sediments, which came into effect on September 8, 2017. The general standards for ship ballast water testing mainly include the IMO (International Maritime Organization) D-2 standard, which limits the microbial content in the discharged ship ballast water and mandates the installation of ballast water treatment systems. Another standard is the Vessel General Permit (VGP) issued by the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2013.

We will go to the customer's designated vessel location and develop a detailed inspection plan for the vessel based on the IMO ballast water sampling guidelines G2 and the ballast water management system commissioning test guidelines. We will use specific sampling and testing methods and issue a ballast water inspection report within the prescribed time frame. In addition, Youliang also provides technical inspection services such as supervision and inspection of port state ship ballast water, BWMS commissioning and testing of newly built ships, VGP compliance inspection of ship ballast water, BWMS commissioning and testing of ship retrofitting, and annual inspection of IOPP certificates.
